macOS · Display Calibration
PatternSpace renders hardware-accurate calibration patterns on the exact display you want to measure. The full pattern library and SDR reference output are free. Pro adds ColourSpace, CalMAN, and PGenerator automation plus advanced HDR — one purchase, no subscription.
Why PatternSpace
Every pixel matters in display calibration. PatternSpace is engineered from first principles for accuracy — a Metal EDR pipeline, colorimetric output presets, full HDR headroom, zero drift.
16-bit per channel rendering via
rgba16Float
CAMetalLayer. Full HDR headroom on Pro Display XDR and compatible
monitors.
Target any connected display. Automatic fallback when your calibration display disconnects. Per-display ICC profile diagnostics.
Live gamut, transfer function, encoding, EDR headroom, estimated peak luminance, and the active display profile — know exactly what you're measuring before you measure it.
Device Native, Display SDR, and 14 SDR reference presets — sRGB, Adobe RGB, BT.709/BT.1886, BT.2020, DCI-P3, and more. Pro adds HDR PQ, tone-mapped HDR, Display HDR, and Linear HDR.
A first-party WebSocket/JSON protocol with 4-digit pairing. Drive patches from your own scripts and tools — free to evaluate with 25 rendered patches per session, unlimited with Pro.
GPU-rendered patterns across 6 categories: Color, Checks, Geometry, Swatch, Gamma, and Clipping. PNG thumbnails for every pattern.
Calibration Protocols
PatternSpace speaks the three most common professional calibration protocols, plus its own open PatternSpace Remote protocol — connect via any workflow you already use.
Connect via ColourSpace's built-in Network Server. PatternSpace auto-discovers on the local network — no manual IP entry needed.
Configure CalMAN's Unified Pattern Generator Control Interface (UPGCI) to connect. PatternSpace listens passively — just point CalMAN at your Mac's IP.
Full emulation of the PGenerator network protocol. Any software that supports PGenerator as a target will connect automatically via network discovery.
The built-in WebSocket/JSON protocol for scripts and custom tools. Pair with a 4-digit code and render up to 25 patches per session free — Pro removes the limit. The protocol is openly documented.
ColourSpace, CalMAN, and PGenerator automation are part of PatternSpace Pro. The PatternSpace Remote server is included free with an evaluation allowance.
