PatternSpace and LightSpace Connect are two calibration apps from Caplaz, built for different parts of a display workflow. Both can generate patches from a Mac. LightSpace Connect adds a broad range of device targets, including iPhone, iPad, and Android screens. PatternSpace focuses on a more complete Mac workbench for HDR output, SDI patches, ICC profiles, and LUT preparation.

Choose LightSpace Connect when you need to measure a phone or tablet screen, or use a compatible mobile or streaming device as a patch source. Choose PatternSpace when your calibration bench centers on a Mac and you want integrated display diagnostics, advanced HDR output controls, a supported DeckLink SDI path, and built-in ICC and LUT tools.
PatternSpace's iOS and Android apps are in development. For mobile patch generation today, use LightSpace Connect on the App Store for iPhone and iPad, or LightSpace Connect on Google Play for Android.

Where LightSpace Connect Stands Out
LightSpace Connect is the flexible choice when the display itself is a mobile device. Install it on an iPhone, iPad, or Android device to show patches directly on that screen. It can also send patches to external displays through supported adapters or screen mirroring, and it supports compatible TV and streaming devices. Its live patch output is SDR. Light Illusion's product guide documents HDR using generated video clips played with ColourSpace DIP Mode, a separate workflow from live patch generation.
Where PatternSpace Goes Further on Mac
PatternSpace is designed as a native Mac calibration workbench. It combines a large diagnostic pattern library and network automation with colorimetric output presets, full HDR headroom, and per-display diagnostics. Pro adds HDR PQ, system-tone-mapped HDR, Display HDR, and Linear HDR presets, plus Peak White and EDR controls for Mac display measurements.
For an external video path, PatternSpace can send supported SDR solid and window patches through compatible Blackmagic DeckLink hardware. The separate SDI purchase is limited to progressive 720p and 1080p, 10-bit YCbCr, video-range BT.709 / gamma 2.4 output. HDR, UHD, and library patterns are not supported over SDI.
PatternSpace also includes a separate set of color-management tools: create and manage SDR ICC display profiles, work with VCGT curves, and inspect or combine LUTs in LUT Tools. These tools complement a calibration workflow; they do not replace measurement or the software that applies a transform to a display.
How the Apps Fit Together
This is a choice between two focused tools from the same developer, rather than a single app replacing the other. Use LightSpace Connect when you need mobile screens or its supported device range. Use PatternSpace for a Mac-based bench that benefits from its broader HDR, SDI, ICC, and LUT feature set. If you use both kinds of workflow, each app can serve its own target display.
